How to borrow from the Singapore National eLibrary

This is a step by step image guide to using the Singapore National eLibrary for all iPad & iPhone user. If you are using other eReaders, please check the elibrary site (http://singapore.lib.overdrive.com/) on how to install the OverDrive Media Console onto your device.

Before you access the eLibrary, please make sure that you have a valid membership with the Singapore National Library. No online registration is required. As long as you have any of the following, you will be able to borrow from the eLibrary::
1. NLB Digital Account
2. NRIC/Membership ID with NLB


Step 1: Search for OverDrive Media in the AppStore. This app is free for all to download.

Step 2: After installation, please login/create a adobe account with the instruction in-app.

Step 3: Add Singapore National Library (http://singapore.lib.overdrive.com/) to your library list.

Step 4: Click on the library in the app and it will open your safari bringing you to the eLibrary page.


Step 5: Click on Login on the top right hand corner of your screen and login with whichever ID that you are using.


Step 6: Once you have successfully logged in, you will be able to see the following screen.

Now search for the books that you want to borrow. If there are no copies available, you can either add them to your wish list or place a reservation at no charge.
After you had place a reservation, you can view your queue number of the book requested in your Digital Account.

If the book is available, you can check it out and go to My eBookshelf under your Digital Account. Just click on the Download button and the book will start downloading in the OverDrive Media Console.




When you are done with your books, the returning process is very simple. Just slide your finger across the screen on the book you wished to return and click return/delete.


Lastly, enjoy your ebook!

    1. Yes I believed you have to be a Singapore citizen or PR in order to register for an account with the Singapore National Library. Foreigners account are available but I am not sure of the Terms & Conditions.
